Which months are dark in 2027?
Dark weeks are the planning value in this calendar. On the slate announced by November 3, 2026, August has no major residency date at all, June thins out after John Mayer closes at Sphere on June 12, and November and December 2027 are still unannounced. That cuts both ways: a dark month means cheaper rooms and easier restaurant bookings, but nobody should book flights around a residency that has not been announced. How do you plan a trip around a residency?
- Anchor first, flights second. Residency dates are the scarcest part of the trip; rooms and flights flex around them. Our Las Vegas itineraries build whole days around one anchor show.
- Stay in the venue's orbit. A Colosseum night pairs with a Caesars Palace or central Strip room; a Santana night pairs with Mandalay Bay or the south Strip. The walk home is part of the ticket price.
- Mind the show time. Every Colosseum, Dolby Live and House of Blues date on this calendar starts at 8 PM, per the venues' own listings, so a 6 PM dinner reservation is the comfortable pattern.
- Buy from the venue or its official seller first. Every act above sells through Ticketmaster or the venue box office; resale is the fallback for sold-out nights, not the starting point.
LL Cool J framed his first Vegas residency, in the announcement quoted by Rolling Stone, as a group project rather than a solo booking: "This isn't me doing a show in Vegas. It's all of us." His Rock the Bells residency at Dolby Live (11 shows, per MGM Resorts' newsroom) brings rotating special guests, which makes each date a slightly different show and rewards picking the date, not just the month.
