The January Collision: When World of Concrete and SHOT Show Hit Las Vegas the Same Week

It is the most expensive Las Vegas week that leisure travelers have never heard of. From Monday January 18 to Friday January 22, 2027, two of the largest trade shows in America run at the same time, 1.5 miles apart: World of Concrete at the Las Vegas Convention Center and the SHOT Show at the Venetian Expo and Caesars Forum, with the AVN Expo at Virgin Hotels and Eagles at Sphere layered on top. Trade press calls it a second CES sized week for hotel pricing. This page is the planning guide for everyone caught in it, attending or not.

Stacked the same week: the AVN Adult Entertainment Expo at Virgin Hotels, Wednesday January 20 to Saturday January 23, capped by the AVN Awards on Saturday night, and Eagles at Sphere on January 22 and 23. Exhibitor move in starts Monday January 18 (a federal holiday), so the compression effectively runs Monday to Saturday.

What it does to hotels

The arithmetic is unforgiving: about 100,000 convention visitors from the two anchor shows alone, in a market of roughly 150,300 hotel rooms (LVCVA), arriving the same days. A forward price watch in September 2026 read SHOT Show week at an average of $242 a night, the highest of any January week measured, ahead of CES week at the same snapshot, against about $104 for a quiet February reference week. Because the two campuses draw on the same north and center Strip pool, there is no cheap side of the Strip that week; the relief inventory is downtown and off Strip, which is exactly where AVN's crowd already sits. January 2026, which contained the same pairing, finished at a citywide average rate of $200.15 and 79.5% occupancy.

If you are attending

  • World of Concrete: Westgate is the walkable home base; SAHARA, Fontainebleau and Resorts World are the near alternatives. The Monorail's Convention Center station and the Vegas Loop make the east Strip spine (MGM Grand, Horseshoe, Flamingo, Harrah's, The LINQ) practical. Our hotels near the Convention Center guide ranks them.
  • SHOT Show: Venetian and Palazzo put you in the building; Caesars Forum is directly behind Harrah's, The LINQ and Flamingo via the LINQ Promenade; Wynn/Encore and Treasure Island are the pressure valves. The Monorail's Harrah's/LINQ station serves Caesars Forum.
  • Eating: expense account steakhouses near both campuses book out first. Our restaurants near the Convention Center guide covers the LVCC side; book dinners when you book the room.
  • The badge week playbook: the convention attendee guide covers badges, transport and the mistakes that cost attendees money every January.

If you are just visiting that week

  • Stay downtown or off Strip, or shift your dates one week either way: the week before runs on PPAI (about 16,000 attendees) and prices dramatically lower.
  • Use the trade crowd's rhythm: they work 8 to 5 and sleep early. Attractions, shows and late dinners are easier than the hotel bill suggests.
  • Book shows and headline restaurants early anyway: 100,000 expense accounts compete for the same Friday night tables.
  • Expect convention priced everything near the two campuses, from coffee to rideshares at show close (3 PM Thursday for World of Concrete's last day, Friday for SHOT).

Flights and the wider month

Collision week rates Extreme for flights on the Flight Price Calendar (arrive Sunday or Monday, leave Friday, is the most contested pattern). The full month, including CES week and the January 25 College Football Playoff championship at Allegiant, is mapped on the January 2027 events page, and every 2027 convention is listed in our conventions 2027 guide.

Dates, attendance and rate figures verified October 26, 2026 against Informa (World of Concrete), NSSF, the AVN Awards listing, LVCVA inventory data and published forward rate watches. AVN publishes no audited attendance, so none is printed.

Frequently asked questions

What is the January Collision in Las Vegas?

The week of January 18 to 22, 2027, when World of Concrete (Las Vegas Convention Center, exhibits January 19 to 21) and the SHOT Show (Venetian Expo and Caesars Forum, January 19 to 22) run simultaneously, with the AVN Expo at Virgin Hotels (January 20 to 23) and Eagles at Sphere on top. The two anchor trade shows alone bring about 100,000 convention visitors (47,400+ registered for World of Concrete in 2026; 53,000+ for SHOT Show 2026) into a city with about 150,000 hotel rooms, and forward rate watchers measured SHOT week as the most expensive January week in Las Vegas.

I am not attending either show. Should I avoid that week?

Avoid it for hotels, use it for everything else. Room rates that week price like a second CES, but the crowds are trade crowds: they fill convention corridors and expense account steakhouses, work early hours, and leave the shows, attractions and late night city comparatively open. If your dates are flexible by one week in either direction, move them; the week before (PPAI, about 16,000) is dramatically cheaper.

Where should I stay for World of Concrete or SHOT Show?

For World of Concrete (LVCC): Westgate is adjacent, with SAHARA, Fontainebleau, Resorts World and Circus Circus nearby, and the Monorail's LVCC station opens the whole east Strip spine (MGM Grand, Horseshoe, Flamingo, Harrah's and The LINQ). For SHOT (Venetian Expo + Caesars Forum): the Venetian and Palazzo sit on the venue, Caesars Forum stands directly behind Harrah's, The LINQ and Flamingo, and Wynn/Encore and Treasure Island are the near alternatives. Book either campus early; both feed the same north and center Strip room pool.
