Flights to Las Vegas from Dallas: The Complete Decision Page

This page answers the whole question, not just the fare: which airport to leave from, which airlines actually fly nonstop right now, what the trip really costs, when to fly for the lowest price, and whether you should be driving instead. It works in both directions, since the flight home to Dallas is the same decision in reverse.

The verdict in one paragraph

Two airports, two different bargains. DFW has competition (American, Frontier, Sun Country) and the lower typical fares. Love Field has only Southwest, and its typical roundtrips run noticeably higher, but it is closer in and easier. Price shoppers start at DFW; convenience shoppers check Love Field and pay the single-carrier premium knowingly.

Your airports and the airlines that fly nonstop

AirportNonstop airlines to LAS (Oct 2026)Flight timeNotes
Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW)American, Frontier, Sun CountryAbout 3h westbound, 2h40 backAmerican's largest hub means frequencies all day. Frontier supplies the fare floor. Sun Country adds a few flights a week.
Dallas Love Field (DAL)Southwest onlyAbout 3h westbound, 2h40 backSouthwest's home airport, gate-capped by law, so one carrier is the whole market. Closer to downtown Dallas and far simpler to navigate.

Spirit's Dallas to Las Vegas flights ended when the airline ceased operations on May 2, 2026; its listings still circulate in stale search results. Frontier at DFW now holds the bottom-fare role.

What fares actually look like

The two airports price very differently. Kayak's Dallas data (last 12 months, checked October 2026) shows DFW departures averaging $241 on Mondays against $317 on Fridays, with January roundtrips averaging about $184 and July the priciest month. Love Field's typical roundtrips run $337 to $489, higher across the board because Southwest has no nonstop competitor there, though a lowest recent roundtrip of $141 shows the floor when a sale hits. Booking about eight weeks out from Dallas saved roughly a third versus last-minute prices.

The cheapest days to fly

At DFW, Monday departures average about 24 percent below Friday's. At Love Field, Wednesday is the cheapest day (about 13 percent below average) and Friday the most expensive. February is Love Field's cheapest month (about $301 median roundtrip); July is its worst (about $477). The pattern underneath both airports is the same one in our fare calendar: the weekend itself is the surcharge.

Fly or drive: the honest math

Dallas to the Strip is about 1,220 miles and 18 to 19.5 hours of driving, a two-day commitment each way with fuel around $146 one way on the research basis. Against a 3 hour flight, there is no fly or drive contest here: the drive is a vacation choice (Route 66 detours, Albuquerque, Flagstaff, the Grand Canyon's south rim), never the practical one. Fly out of DFW for price or Love Field for convenience, and spend the saved day in Vegas.

The arrival playbook

Land at Harry Reid International (LAS) and you are ten minutes from the Strip, but the details decide whether arrival feels easy or expensive. Start with the Harry Reid airport guide for terminals, rideshare pickup locations and the rental car center shuttle. Then the getting around Las Vegas guide for the monorail, Deuce bus, rideshare surge patterns and when a rental car actually pays. If you are still choosing where to sleep, the Las Vegas hotels hub compares the Strip, downtown and off-Strip honestly, and the packing list keeps you out of the airport shops.

Flying home: Las Vegas to Dallas

Everything above runs in reverse, with two Vegas twists. Sunday is the most expensive and most crowded departure day of the week at LAS, and in summer the last flights of the day carry the highest heat-delay risk; the first departure of the morning is the safest seat in July and August. Arrive at the airport earlier than feels necessary on event weekends, when security lines stretch with 50,000 other people leaving the same convention.
