Las Vegas Grand Prix 2026 spectator guide: everything a first-timer needs to know

By the ThingsVegas Editorial Team | Published 2026-10-10 | Last reviewed October 2026

The Formula 1 Heineken Las Vegas Grand Prix returns November 19-21, 2026 for its fourth running, and it remains the most spectacular stop on the F1 calendar. It is a night street race on the 3.8-mile Las Vegas Strip Circuit, a 6.2km layout with 17 turns that threads past the neon heart of the city. The numbers from recent editions tell the story: 181 overtakes recorded in a single race weekend, speeds over 225 mph down the Strip, and a start-finish line near Harmon Ave and Koval Lane. The 2025 race sold out, so if you are thinking about going in 2026, plan early.

This guide covers the full session schedule, ticket types and prices, what a night street race actually feels like from the stands, and the practical tips first-timers always wish they had known.

Book your race weekend first

Two things sell out before anything else on Grand Prix weekend: grandstand seats and hotels on the circuit. Lock both in before you plan the rest of the trip.

Tickets and experiences: race tickets move fast once the calendar turns to November, and the support program around the race sells out too. Browse Las Vegas experiences on Viator for race-week tours and attractions, and fill the daylight hours before the evening sessions with F1 DRIVE and F1 X at Grand Prix Plaza, where you can race karts on a section of the circuit itself.

Hotels on the circuit: staying on or inside the circuit means walking to your viewing zone instead of fighting the road closures. Our full picks are in the best hotels for the F1 Las Vegas Grand Prix guide. The short list:

What to expect at a night street race

A race under the lights. Every session runs in the evening or at night, with the cars lit by track lighting against the Strip skyline. It is visually unlike any daytime grand prix, and photography from the stands is genuinely spectacular.

Chilly desert nights. Daytime November in Vegas is pleasant, but once the sun drops the temperature falls into the high 40s. You will be sitting still outdoors for hours, so dress warm in layers, bring a jacket, and do not skip gloves or a beanie.

Walls close to the cars. It is a true street circuit: concrete walls line the track and the cars pass frighteningly close. The sense of speed from a grandstand or fan zone is far more intense than on television.

The 1.9km Strip straight. The defining feature of the circuit is the long straight down Las Vegas Boulevard past Caesars Palace and Bellagio, where cars top 225 mph before braking hard into the next corner. Those heavy braking zones are where the 181 overtakes come from.

Practical tips for first-timers

Arrive early. Gates and entry zones get crowded well before sessions, and security screening takes time. Give yourself far more margin than you think you need, especially on race day.

Bring ear protection. Modern F1 cars are quieter than the old V8 era, but a grandstand next to 20 cars at full throttle is still loud. Foam earplugs or over-ear defenders make the experience far more comfortable.

Pack light. Large bags, backpacks, outside food and drink, and professional camera gear are typically restricted. Bring a small bag, a portable phone charger, and layers for the cold.

Plan your transport now. Roads around the circuit close in the late afternoon, roughly 5-7pm, and rideshares surge. Staying on or near the Strip and walking in is the simplest plan. If you are flying in, book flights and hotels early because race weekend is one of the busiest weekends of the year.
