Rock 'n' Roll Las Vegas 2027: Half Marathon, 10K and 5K on a Closed Strip

Rock 'n' Roll Las Vegas 2027 runs on the weekend of February 20 and 21, 2027, and it is the only event of the year that closes the Las Vegas Strip so runners can race down it at night: the series bills itself as the World's Largest Nighttime Running Event, and the 2026 edition drew more than 26,000 registered participants from all 50 states and more than 60 countries (IRONMAN Group, the organizer). The format, verified October 30, 2026: a 5K downtown on Saturday, February 20 at 5:00 PM, then the half marathon and 10K on Sunday, February 21 at 4:30 PM, starting outside New York-New York and finishing at the Fountains of Bellagio. There is no full marathon; the half is the longest distance. This guide serves both crowds: runners entering the race, and everyone else whose Sunday night collides with a closed Strip. It sits in our February 2027 events guide and the events hub.

Entry prices last checked: October 30, 2026, on the official registration page. Tiers are limited quantity and rise as they sell through, with no published increase calendar.

Registration: how the pricing actually works

Registration is open now on the Rock 'n' Roll Running Series site, and the pricing model matters more than any single number: each distance sells in limited quantity price tiers, so the price you see is the price of the tier that is still open, and it rises without announced dates as tiers sell out. The cheap end was real once (the pre-sale half marathon was $133 through March 1, 2026, billed as the lowest price of the year), and a limited discounted tier was still showing on the Sunday cards at the last check in October 2026. Two firm rules from the organizer: entry is non-refundable and non-transferable, and your entry includes the Finish Line Festival and the Encore Concert after the race. The 2027 concert act had not been announced at the last check; past editions brought Macklemore, Kid Rock, Snoop Dogg and Kesha. If you are entering, the money move is simple: buy the tier in front of you rather than waiting for a sale that this series does not run.

The expo and packet pickup: the deadline nobody sees

Every runner must pick up their own race packet at the Health & Fitness Expo at Resorts World, February 18 to 20, 2027, with photo ID and your bib number; the series' rule is that you must pick up your own packet. There is no race day pickup for the Sunday races, which makes the expo's Saturday close the effective arrival deadline for the whole weekend: fly in Saturday evening and you have a problem no start line official can fix. The expo itself is free and open to the public, and worth an hour even for spectators. The 2027 expo hours had not been published at the last check (in 2026 they ran Thursday 3 to 6 PM, Friday 10 AM to 6 PM, Saturday 9 AM to 5 PM); confirm them on the event page before you plan around a day.

Race night, for runners

The Sunday start village sits at Toshiba Plaza by T-Mobile Arena, next to New York-New York, and the 4:30 PM start is timed so the field races into the dark: sunset racing down an empty Boulevard, the Welcome sign, and a finish line at the Bellagio fountains with the festival and concert inside the finish area. Time limits are 4 hours for the half marathon and 2 hours for the 10K, enforced by course reopening. February weather is the runner's friend and the spectator's trap: NOAA's 1991 to 2020 normals put the February average high at 62.9°F and the low at 44.1°F, so expect low 60s at the start falling through the 50s to the upper 40s by the 8:30 PM cutoff. Dress for the finish, not the start, and use gear check. What to wear under the race kit is its own shopping problem; our walking shoes guide covers the cushioned end of the spectrum for the other 48 hours of walking this city makes you do.

Race night, for everyone else: the Strip closure

If you are not running, Sunday, February 21 is the second biggest road night of the Vegas year, and it rewards the same planning as our F1 survival guide. The official 2027 closure plan publishes closer to race weekend. The 2026 official pattern, which is the shape to plan around: Las Vegas Boulevard closed Sunday from 2:00 PM to 11:30 PM, no hotel access from the Boulevard and no vehicle crossings of the course, alternate Strip access via Paradise Road and Koval Lane, the south end reopening from about 8:30 PM at police discretion, and the Deuce bus detoured for most of the evening. Practical rules: be parked, checked in, or on the correct side of the Boulevard before 2 PM; do not book a 5 PM show across the course from your hotel; and treat the finish stretch (Bellagio, Cosmopolitan, Paris, Planet Hollywood) as pedestrian territory for the night. The upside is real: a spectator spot at the fountains finish costs nothing and beats most paid views in the city. Sports fans with other plans that weekend will find the bars and books in our sports hub.

Where to stay

Start line sleepers want the south Strip: New York-New York hosts the start, with Park MGM beside the start village at Toshiba Plaza. Finish line sleepers want the center: Bellagio hosts the finish, and The Cosmopolitan sits right beside the finish area, which is the walk-home winner after a 13.1 mile night; Paris Las Vegas and Planet Hollywood line the finish stretch. Expo runners should note Resorts World is at the north end, a Monorail and rideshare away from both. Book race weekend early; 26,000 runners plus their people absorb the center Strip first.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a full marathon at Rock 'n' Roll Las Vegas?

No. The longest distance is the half marathon. The 2027 weekend runs a 5K on Saturday, February 20, and a half marathon and 10K on Sunday, February 21, both starting at 4:30 PM outside New York-New York and finishing at the Bellagio fountains.

How much does it cost to enter Rock 'n' Roll Las Vegas 2027?

Entry is tiered and the tiers sell through without a published calendar. At the last check (October 30, 2026), the 5K was $105.66 before fees ($124.94 all in), and Sunday's half marathon and 10K cards ranged from a limited $120 tier to $182 before fees. Registration is non-refundable and non-transferable.

Can someone else pick up my race packet?

No. The series requires every runner to pick up their own packet at the Health and Fitness Expo at Resorts World (February 18 to 20, 2027), with photo ID and your bib number. There is no race day pickup for the Sunday races, so Saturday's expo close is the effective arrival deadline.

What time does the Strip close for the race?

The official 2027 closure plan publishes closer to race weekend. In 2026, Las Vegas Boulevard closed on race Sunday from 2:00 PM to 11:30 PM, with no vehicle access to Strip hotels from the Boulevard and no vehicle crossings; alternate access ran via Paradise Road and Koval Lane. Plan on the same shape.

Can I watch the race for free?

Yes. Spectating along the course is free, and the finish at the Bellagio fountains is the best seat in the city that night. Book a finish area hotel or arrive before the Boulevard closes, because pedestrian movement across the course is controlled once racing starts.
