A landmark restaurant is closing, one of the most recognizable lights in the city is changing for the first time in decades, and a couple of Strip venues are in transition. Here is what changed this week and what it means for a visit.

Le Cirque at Bellagio closes August 23

Le Cirque, the French fine-dining room that has been at Bellagio since the hotel opened in 1998, closes for good after dinner service on August 23. It held a Michelin star, a Forbes Five-Star rating, and an AAA Five Diamond award across nearly three decades, and it was one of the restaurants that turned the Strip into a serious dining city rather than a buffet town. Bellagio says the space becomes a new concept in mid-2027.

If you have ever wanted to eat there, the next two weeks are the last chance, and reservations for the closing stretch will go fast. This is a jacket-required, special-occasion room at a special-occasion price, so go in knowing it is a splurge. The Luxor Sky Beam gets color for the first time

The Luxor's beam, the brightest light in the world and pointed straight up from the pyramid since 1993, is getting color for the first time in its 33-year run. Red is being tested first as the debut of an eventual color scheme, rolling out over the coming weeks. If you have an older photo of the plain white beam, it is about to become a period piece. Worth a look from a high vantage point at night, the High Roller or a Strip-view room gives you the angle.

XS at Wynn is taking a pause

XS, one of the highest-grossing nightclubs in the world, is on a temporary break at Encore. A new bite at Sam's Town

Off the Strip, Sam's Town on Boulder Highway opened STG Bar & Grill, an American menu aimed at locals more than visitors. Not a reason to leave the Strip on its own, but useful if you are staying on the east side or passing through.

Heat check
