Vegas update: David Chang's Bang Bar to close at The Cosmopolitan, October 2026

Another David Chang restaurant is leaving the Las Vegas Strip. Bang Bar by Momofuku, the quick-service flatbread spot in The Cosmopolitan's Block 16 Urban Food Hall, serves its last customers on October 4, 2026. Bang Bar closes October 4

MGM Resorts announced on September 17, 2026, that Bang Bar will close after service on October 4, 2026. The restaurant sits on the north end of Block 16 Urban Food Hall, the Cosmopolitan's collection of fast-casual concepts on the casino's second level.

If Bang Bar was on your list for an upcoming trip, you have a narrow window: roughly two weeks from this update to catch it before the shutters come down. After October 4, the space goes dark until the replacement concept arrives.

What Bang Bar was

Bang Bar opened in April 2021, taking over the space previously held by Pok Pok Wing. The name comes from "bang" (ppang), the Korean word for bread, and the menu was built around griddled flatbreads wrapped or rolled around spit-roasted meats, plus rice bowls with vegetables and proteins. Signature items included the U-Wrap and the Fold-Up Wrap.

At its 2021 opening, Chang called it "one of the craziest concepts we've come up with" and positioned it as an accessible, on-the-go option for Las Vegas guests - a deliberately casual counterpoint to his fine-dining restaurants.

Chang's shrinking Las Vegas footprint

The Bang Bar closure continues a clear trend: David Chang's presence on the Las Vegas Strip has been shrinking for years. He once operated four restaurants in Strip casinos. After October 4, the flagship Momofuku restaurant at The Cosmopolitan will be his only remaining restaurant in a Strip casino property.

The earlier exits: Majordōmo Meat & Fish at The Venetian and Moon Palace at Palazzo both closed in June 2022. What remains of Chang's Vegas portfolio is the flagship Momofuku at The Cosmopolitan and his Fuku spicy-fried-chicken concessions at T-Mobile Arena (opened April 2023) and Allegiant Stadium (opened August 2024).

What replaces it: a new concept in 2027

The closure is not the end of the Momofuku story at the Cosmopolitan. According to the MGM Resorts announcement, a new concept from Momofuku and China Palace Group is planned for the former Bang Bar space, with an opening targeted for 2027. No menu details or opening date have been confirmed yet.

Prime food-hall space on the Strip rarely sits empty for long, and a Momofuku-backed replacement suggests the Cosmopolitan sees the location as worth reinvesting in rather than backfilling with a generic tenant.

Visiting before October 4? Block 16 Urban Food Hall is worth a stop while Bang Bar is still operating - it is one of the better quick-service lineups on the Strip, and the flatbreads are a genuinely good fast lunch between casino sessions.
