Awakening, the large-scale production at Wynn Las Vegas, played its final performance on Saturday, October 10, 2026, closing a run of nearly four years in the 1,600-seat Awakening Theater. Wynn confirmed the closing in August and says a new production will take over the theater in 2027. Here is what happened, why the show ended, and what to see instead. Our Awakening show page has been updated to reflect the closure.
The final night
Wynn announced on August 21, 2026 that Awakening would conclude its run on October 10, and the production played its last performance that Saturday night. The closing ends one of the most ambitious shows on the Strip: a cast of 60 international artists, narration by Anthony Hopkins, and a 360-degree stage that lifted, split, and rotated through the performance. Awakening opened in November 2022, and during its run it was voted Best Production Show by the Southern Nevada Hotel Concierge Association.
The theater built for spectacle
Awakening took over the theater-in-the-round at Wynn from Le Rêve, the aquatic production that ran in the room for 15 years. The theater seats 1,600, and no seat sits far from the stage. The production, directed by Baz Halpin with character design by Michael Curry, ran about 80 minutes with no intermission and leaned on scale: giant puppets, aerial work, drones above the audience, and a prismatic stage floor that transformed from scene to scene.
Why it closed
Wynn has not given a detailed reason. In its statement, the resort said Awakening would conclude its run as it prepares a new production for the theater, and thanked the producers, cast, crew, and creative team behind the show. Industry coverage was blunter: Casino.org reported that the high-tech production, reported to have cost around $150 million to create including the theater overhaul, struggled to build a consistent audience across its run. The pattern matters for visitors: even a flagship production at a top-tier resort is not guaranteed a long life, and Las Vegas closing announcements now often come with only a few weeks of notice.
What comes next
Wynn says a new production will debut in the Awakening Theater sometime in 2027. The resort has not announced a title, a format, a creative team, or an opening date, and no ticketing information exists yet. Until then the theater goes dark, and Wynn's entertainment calendar leans on its Encore Theater residencies. We will update this story when the replacement is named.
What to see instead
If Awakening was on your list, the closest alternatives still playing are the other large-scale spectacles on the Strip. O by Cirque du Soleil at Bellagio remains the benchmark for aquatic spectacle, Mystère at Treasure Island is the classic Cirque production, and Blue Man Group at Luxor covers the immersive, family-friendly lane. You can also browse all Las Vegas shows on Viator, where most bookings carry free cancellation. Our guide to the best variety and spectacular shows compares the big production shows head to head.
One warning: if you see Awakening tickets still listed for sale anywhere, that listing is stale. The run ended October 10, 2026, and there are no future performances to buy.
